The Dignity in Care Academy Professional Caregiver Training Programme is a structured 6-week programme designed to prepare individuals to provide safe, compassionate and dignified support to older adults in home and community settings.

Based in Jamaica and serving learners across the Caribbean, our programme equips caregivers with practical caregiving knowledge, health awareness and professional standards to help them support older adults confidently and respectfully.

The programme combines foundational caregiving principles with communication, safety, emotional awareness, professional conduct and practical approaches to everyday caregiving, while also encouraging caregivers to protect their own wellbeing.

Participants who successfully complete the programme requirements receive a Certificate of Completion from Dignity in Care Academy.

This workbook is the official training companion for the Dignity in Care Academy 6-Week Professional Caregiver Training Programme.

Designed to reinforce weekly learning and help students apply key caregiving concepts, the workbook includes:

  • Multiple-choice quizzes to reinforce knowledge

  • Practical scenarios based on everyday caregiving situations

How long is the course?

This is a 6-week programme. The training program is designed to be clear, practical, and focused, allowing students to gain essential caregiving knowledge without spending months in school.

Do I need experience to take the course?

No prior experience is required.

This course is designed for beginners who want to enter the caregiving field, as well as individuals who already provide care for family members and want structured training to strengthen their skills.

Is the Certification of Completion recognized?

Dignity in Care Academy provides professional caregiver training designed to prepare individuals for caregiving roles in private homes, community settings and other care environments.

Participants who successfully complete the programme requirements receive a Certificate of Completion from Dignity in Care Academy, demonstrating that they have completed training in areas including caregiving fundamentals, safety, communication, dignity and respect, dementia awareness and professional conduct.

The Certificate of Completion is issued by Dignity in Care Academy and is not a government-issued licence, nationally recognised qualification or externally accredited professional certification.

The programme is designed to provide practical knowledge and skills that can support an individual’s preparation for caregiving opportunities. Employment requirements vary by employer, organisation and country, and completion of the programme does not guarantee employment or placement.

Our training emphasises dignity-centred, person-centred care, safety, respectful communication and practical approaches to supporting older adults.

Are classes online?

Yes, all training is delivered online for your convenience and flexibility.

Will this training help me get a caregiving job?
